The Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee continues to expand its services to meet the unique and growing needs of our region.

Williamson Medical Center announced this week the addition of two new skilled orthopaedic specialists to the provider team at the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee. Casey T. Davidson, M.D., who specializes in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery and Zachary Kalb, D.O., a Physiatrist (physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist) who specializes in Interventional Spine Medicine.

Davidson offers advanced techniques for treating complex problems of the spine. “There are now techniques available that offer excellent alternatives to spinal fusion,” said Davidson. “While not appropriate for all patients, the newer techniques can help preserve motion and still resolve pain and disability associated with orthopaedic conditions of the spine.”

Kalb’s clinical practice focuses on non-surgical treatments for spine and joint related pain through image-guided injections, radiofrequency ablation and other minimally invasive interventions using state-of-the-art techniques to diagnose and treat spine and musculoskeletal conditions. He has performed thousands of image guided procedures. “Physiatrists focus our practice on non-surgical interventions designed to reduce pain and improve function,” says Kalb. “Very often, we can help a patient delay surgery with more conservative measures. In other cases, we can help address looming post-surgical discomfort and mobility limitations.”

Davidson completed his medical training at the University of Texas Medical branch Galveston and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He participated in an AOSpine visiting fellowship with Paul Heini, M.D. at Sonnenhofspital in Bern, Switzerland and completed a spine surgery fellowship with OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC. Kalb earned his medical degree at the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Tech and completed his physiatry residency at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, FL. He also completed a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine at the OrthoCarolina Spine Center in Charlotte, NC.

Davidson and his wife, Ericka, have twin daughters and a yellow Labrador Retriever. He enjoys traveling, attending live music concerts and participating in outdoor activities.

In his free time, Kalb enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, biking, mountaineering and playing ice hockey.
